The General Manager will work at the company’s office located at 5680 King Centre Drive, Suite 608, Alexandria, VA 22315. The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all operations of the US and Canadian branches of GFS Group, developing and implementing strategic plans, and ensuring the achievement of business goals. Additionally, the General Manager will directly engage with suppliers in that region to source premium products for export, fostering strong relationships and ensuring a steady supply chain. The General Manager will also engage in risk assessment and management.
The key responsibilities of the General Manager will include:
(i) Checking daily production and exporting news globally to stay informed about market trends and developments;
(ii) Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers in the USA and Canada;
(iii) Visiting suppliers and clients at least once per year;
(iv) Negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers to secure high-quality frozen food products at competitive prices;
(v) Ensuring a reliable and consistent supply chain for exporting products globally;
(vi) Negotiating the best prices with international suppliers, focusing on market prices rather than purchase prices;
(vii) Developing and implementing business strategies to drive growth and profitability in the USA and Canada markets;
(viii) Working with upper management to set the company's strategic direction;
(ix) Identifying new market opportunities and innovative approaches to enhance competitive advantage;
(x) Establishing payment terms for clients and deciding on credit and invoicing limits;
(xi) Developing and managing yearly budgets, ensuring financial health and sustainability;
(xii) Monitoring financial performance, implementing corrective actions, and reporting on financial metrics to the Board of Directors;
(xiii) Approving daily payments and managing the company's cash flow;
(xiv) Developing and implementing the company's private label strategy;
(xv) Setting and executing the business development plan to achieve annual objectives;
(xvi) Continuously seeking new business opportunities to expand the group;
(xvii) Preparing business plans for all potential business opportunities;
(xviii) Traveling to exhibitions for public relations purposes;
(xix) Meeting with new and existing suppliers and clients, gathering information, and studying competitors;
(xx) Conducting weekly meetings with the sales team to provide market updates;
(xxi) Overseeing the training of all new commercial team members;
(xxii) Working closely with the HR team to share the responsibility in talent management and succession planning for the senior executive team whilst having regard to diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity; and
(xxiii) Enforcing adherence to legal guidelines and in- house policies to maintain the company’s legality and business ethics.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in any field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Five (5) years of experience in sales management with an international organization
Five (5) years of experience in:
• Supplier relationship management
• New business development
• Financial management & budgeting
• Risk assessment & management
Two (2) of the five (5) years of previously listed sales management experience must be within the food industry.
SPECIAL SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Requires ability to travel domestically and internationally at least 50% of the time.
Requires willingness to travel to countries in the Middle East, Africa, South America, and Asia.
